Erbium Laser Resurfacing

in Scottsdale, AZ

Fine lines and wrinkles are some of the most frustrating facial cosmetic issues that women and men face. While some patients turn to facial plastic surgery to address these concerns, others seek out non-surgical approaches.

One of the most effective techniques for improving the quality of your skin is cosmetic laser treatments, and one of the most advanced laser treatments is Erbium laser resurfacing. Erbium laser resurfacing uses fractional laser technology to help stimulate collagen and new cell production. This can be used to reduce the look of fine lines and wrinkles.

What Are the Benefits of Erbium Laser Resurfacing?

Stimulates Collagen

Collagen is the protein responsible for the strength and elasticity of your skin and tissues. While your body produces this naturally, especially, while you are young, this decreases as you age. Erbium laser treatments help to jumpstart your body’s collagen and new cell production.

Smoother, Healthier Skin

Not all signs of aging require a surgical correction. Laser treatments, using the Erbium laser, help to resurface the top layer of skin, eliminating minor skin concerns, such as fine lines, wrinkles, and poor skin texture.

Improved Confidence

Struggling with fine lines and wrinkles can be frustrating and infuriating. However, after having Erbium laser resurfacing, women and men can experience tighter skin with fewer fine lines and wrinkles, allowing them to look younger than they have in years.

What Can Be Achieved With the Erbium Laser?

Elimination of Fine Lines

Elimination of Fine Lines

Fine lines on the face often seem to appear out of nowhere and can make men and women look older than they are and certainly older than they feel. The Erbium laser treatment can address these fine lines so that you can achieve smoother and tighter skin.

Reduction of Moderate-Deep Wrinkles

As the light energy heats up the facial skin, it stimulates collagen production. This is important because collagen is responsible for the strength and elasticity of our skin. As more collagen is produced, deep wrinkles are lessened, allowing for more youthful-looking skin.

Improved Skin Tone and Texture

The Erbium laser can improve the overall quality of the skin, including uneven tone and texture. By exfoliating and resurfacing the top layer, minor tone and texture concerns, including sun damage and hyperpigmentation, can be lessened or eliminated.

Erbium Laser Procedure

Consultation

As with any plastic surgery or cosmetic treatment, one of the most important aspects of your Erbium laser resurfacing procedure is your consultation.

During your Erbium laser resurfacing consultation, you will be able to discuss your frustrations and desires with your skin. Additionally, your provider will evaluate your skin condition to ensure that Erbium laser resurfacing is right for you. They will also let you know what to expect for your treatment and give you any pre and postreatment instructions.

Treatment

Erbium laser resurfacing is performed under general anesthesia. This prevents any pain or discomfort during the treatment.

Your provider will move the Erbium laser handheld device over the treatment area. Intense light energy is directed into the skin to vaporize each layer of the epidermis and reveal new skin, while also promoting the production of collagen in your skin.

The Erbium laser resurfacing treatment can last anywhere from 30 to 60 minutes, depending on the extent of the correction needed.

The skin in the treatment area will begin to flake and peel over the next seven to 10 days as the healthy skin grows.

Concerns

Recovery Icon Recovery

Erbium laser resurfacing usually requires a recovery period of one or two weeks.

During this time, it is likely that you will experience redness, swelling, and bruising in the face. After a few days, the dead skin will begin to flake and peel away as the new, healthy skin grows in place. It is important that you stay out of direct sunlight during this recovery time.

Scars Icon Scars

This is a non-surgical treatment that does not require incisions. Because of this, no scars should develop from this treatment.

Pain Icon Pain

Because general anesthesia is used during your treatment, you will not feel any pain during your treatment. You may experience slight discomfort during the procedure and immediately afterwards; however, over-the-counter pain medication is often sufficient.

Cost Icon Cost

As with any cosmetic treatment, the cost of Erbium laser resurfacing varies from patient to patient and depends on the extent of correction needed. You will be given a cost estimate at your consultation. Additionally, financing options are available.

Erbium Laser Resurfacing FAQs

When will I see my results from the Erbium laser?

Once the dead skin is gone and the redness dissipates, you will be left with new skin that looks and feels smoother and healthier. You will be able to enjoy a smoother and more youthful appearance for years, especially if you maintain a healthy skincare routine (including moisturizing your skin and wearing sunscreen).

How many treatments will I need?

Many patients require only one treatment session to achieve their desired results, though some patients may need to have another treatment six to 12 months after their initial Erbium laser resurfacing treatment.

At your consultation, your provider will be able to give you an idea of how many treatment sessions you should expect to have.

Can I combine my Erbium laser resurfacing with other treatments?

You can choose to follow-up your Erbium laser resurfacing with other treatments like dermal fillers, such as JUVÉDERM® and Restylane®. These will be performed after your skin has healed from the laser treatment.
