Facelifts can be performed under local or general anesthesia. Incisions usually begin above the hairline at the temples, extend in a natural line in front of the ear, and continue behind the earlobe to the lower scalp. You'll have some scars, but they're usually hidden by your hair or in the natural creases of your face and ears. In any case, they'll fade with time and should be scarcely visible. Dr. Spies received his medical degree from the Ohio State University College of Medicine in 1979. He then successfully completed both a general surgery and plastic surgery residency; the latter at the University of Kentucky Medical Center. He is certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery and a member of the American Society of Plastic Surgeons and the American Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgery. He has served as an officer in the past for both the Maricopa County Plastic Surgery Society as well as the Arizona Plastic Surgery Society.
Dr. Spies has been a Plastic Surgeon since 1986 performing both cosmetic and reconstructive surgery. His practice now is primarily cosmetic; however, he still does reconstructive surgery for cancer patients (breast cancer as well as head and neck cancer). He is one of only a few surgeons in the Valley who performs microsurgery for head and neck cancer reconstruction.
