Arizona Facelift Surgery

Arizona Plastic Surgery Center uses the latest techniques and state of the art equipment when performing surgical procedures, including facelifts. At both of our locations in Arizona, facelift surgery is performed using general or local anesthesia. This form of plastic surgery can help soften the appearance of aging by removing excess facial skin and tightening the underlying muscles and tissues.

What to Expect

Having a realistic view of what a facelift can and can’t do is an important factor when considering facelift surgery. Although your facelift may seem to turn back the hands of time, this form of plastic surgery cannot stop the aging process, nor will it alter your fundamental appearance. The good news is that this facial rejuvenating procedure can help minimize visible signs of aging by reducing deep creases along your mouth and nose, as well as those that form below your lower eyelids. A facelift can also help tighten loose skin that forms jowls or causes midface sagging, along with minimizing the appearance of a double chin. An initial consultation can provide answers to your questions and help you determine what type of results to expect from your Arizona facelift. Some people choose to combine facelift surgery with other procedures, such as eyelid surgery, to help rejuvenate aging eyes or compliment other facial features.

Facelift Procedure

Your comfort is a major consideration during the entire procedure. You may receive intravenous sedation or general anesthesia. The incisions for your facelift will be placed discreetly out of view, so scars won’t be readily visible. These incisions usually extend from an area above your hairline at the temples, continuing downward to follow the natural line in front of your ear, and then traveling behind your earlobe toward your lower scalp. Although all surgical incisions tend to form scar tissue to some extent, these small scars are generally hidden within your hairline and along the natural creases of your skin, obscuring them from view.

Recovery

The most common conditions experienced during facelift recovery include bruising and swelling. The amount of puffiness and discoloration you experience can vary, depending on your individual experience and healing characteristics. It is important to follow all medical instructions during the recovery period and report any unusual symptoms immediately. As the swelling subsides, you will begin to notice that your face appears more youthful and rested. You may even find that you feel more confident following your facelift surgery.

Risks

As with all surgical procedures, facelift surgery comes with certain risks. Anesthesia poses its own set of risks, while the surgery itself may increase your risk of bleeding, infection, and facial nerve injury. It is natural to feel some anxiety when contemplating surgery. Our informed staff is happy to provide information regarding this and other types of cosmetic procedures. Scheduling an initial consultation can be the first step in attaining your aesthetic goals.
